Green Acres

A Description of the Home and Facilities
Green Acres is a 6 bedded Registered Care Home. All bedrooms have en suite bath/shower facilities with an area in excess of 12 sq.mts. and offers ground floor accommodation for service users with poor mobility access. There are two very spacious lounge areas and bright and homely kitchen/dining facilities designed for service users to enjoy and be involved in food preparation, cooking and eating, along with associated life skills. There is a laundry and utility area where service users are also encouraged to develop their life skills and use the facilities to wash and, if possible, learn to iron their own clothes. There is a very spacious terraced area at the back of the house and extremely large garden which we encourage service users to take an interest in. There is a forecourt at the front of the house for parking.
Each bedroom has a lockable door, the key to which is owned by the service user occupying the room, although designated staff on each shift have access to a key to open any room in emergency if required. This key is the responsibility of the Management and shift leader on duty and is kept in a secure area. Each service user also has a lockable area within their room for private possessions. The Home also has a safe for items of particular value which service users may wish to use. Items kept on behalf of a service user are recorded and kept on file as an added security.
The house is fully furnished and all bedrooms have a bed, bedside table, wardrobe and 2 comfortable chairs, shelves or other furniture as required. Service users can provide their own furniture/TV or other equipment if preferred and personalise their room as they wish.
Services Users each have a ‘home’ day, which is chosen by them, and are encouraged to clean their room, with the support of staff.
The Home is equipped with Fire Alarm and Fire precautions. Fire drills are carried out once a month and Fire call points and equipment checked each week under the Home’s Health & Safety precautions.
The house is centrally heated with thermostatic control and lockable regulator on each radiator.

The Physical Environment
The Home is situated in Banstead, Surrey. Surrey is a gateway to the South East of England, and London. The county covers some 1500 square kilometres between London to the North and the protected countryside of the Surrey Hills to the South. There are a wealth of places to visit including art galleries, farmers’ markets, historic buildings and houses, many activities and adventure parks, wild open spaces with beautiful landscapes and views or boat trips on the Thames. Surrey really is a county for everyone with so much to see and do.
Banstead is situated in the North of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead . Both Reigate and Banstead offer contrasting facilities; Reigate being an old market town with mostly small shops and historic buildings and Banstead village and shops close by and situated within a mile of Epsom town centre which has an under cover shopping mall, many restaurants, pubs, a state of the art cinema complex and theatre. The borough also has three sports centres offering a wide variety of activities, swimming and services for people of all ages. Not forgetting Epsom’s famous race course and the Downs which are just a quarter of a mile away from Green Acres.
Banstead and Epsom each have a railway station offering services into London and frequent bus services.Contact Details
